4 Tips to Have More Energy

It seems that everyone is tired. No one seems to have enough energy. This doesn’t make sense because in our modern society, we aren’t working nearly as hard as our grandparents and great-grandparents were. What are we missing? Why are we so tired? And more importantly, how do we re-energize?

Here are four tips to have more energy in your life.

1. Sleep. 

It’s common sense, I know. But common sense isn’t always common practice. Don’t underestimate the importance of sleep. You re-energize when you sleep. If you are getting less than 7 hours per night, you are not re-energizing. This is leaving you drained the next day. Research shows that all adults need 7-9 hours of sleep each and every day.

2. Nourish your body.

What you put into your body affects what you get out of it in terms of energy. Your body converts what you eat and drink into energy, so a simple way to get more energy out is to put more nourishment in, in the form of healthy food and plenty of water.

3. Quit wasting your energy.

Negative emotions are the biggest drain on your energy. Reduce your negative emotions in order to reduce the energy waste. This means reduce the drama in your life, social media, Netflix, the news, the internet, or negative interactions you take part in. This also means to reduce the negative emotions about the situations in your life. You can’t control the situation, but you can control your negative emotions surrounding it. Quit wasting your precious energy.

4. Start re-energizing.

Research indicates that the most powerful way to re-energize is through emotion. Positive emotions re-energize you. There are two ways to bring more positive emotion into your life. First, do more of the things that light you up. Secondly, practice positive emotions throughout your day. Practice feeling appreciative, at ease, or content. These emotions will charge you.
